Who the buck?

So… who the buck is this guy making all these claims anyway?

Well, allow me to introduce myself: My name is Harry. If you’re interested to know, the domain of this blog “buckleherry” is simply a funny spoonerism of huckleberry (as in Huckleberry Finn or Huckleberry Hound). It absolutely has no further meaning. My fields of interests range from history, culture and language to philosophy, theology and apologetics. My hobbies are reading, writing, watching tv and doing fitness.

But, as you will undoubtedly notice on this blog, I am especially committed to the person of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I’m a convinced Christian, who’s open to any sportive and sincere discussion about Christianity, not only because I find it interesting, but also because Christians are commissioned by God to know what they believe and why they believe. We are urged to be open-hearted to those who ask questions about our faith and to answer them gently and respectfully (1 Peter 3:15), even though their intentions may not be good (v. 16). We are also urged to demolish the arguments against the Christian faith (2 Cor 10:4-5) and to speak the truth in love (Eph 4:15). Doing so we obey the commandment to love God with our mind (Luk 10:27). As such, ignorance is no defence.

If you are a fellow Christian, feel free to refer to this blog and use the arguments in discussing our faith. In Sources, you will find a list of the references that I consult for my posts. Have a look at it and, who knows, maybe you’ll find something that meets your interests. I hope this blog will also edify you in your personal faith and help you grow in your relationship with God.

If you are a skeptic, you should accept or decline my truth claims based upon the presented arguments and not upon my personal convictions or religious agenda. This blog is not about me, it’s about what Christianity is and why Christianity is true.

My personal beliefs, passions and intentions should not form any obstacle to consider the truth of my arguments.  After all, everyone takes a certain position with regard to a knowledge claim that is prejudiced against the position taken by someone else. Most people write about what they believe to be true; and most people write, so that those who disagree will have a better understanding of their position. Even though we can never be completely neutral or totally objective towards a certain subject, it doesn’t mean that we can’t present our views and insights objectively.

So, in my passionate blogging, I intend to proceed conscientiously and precisely, but should I fail to present a positive case for Christianity, the failure is entirely mine and does not undermine the truth that I attempt to defend.

Feel free to join in the discussion and share your opinion and insights on specific issues, wherever possible. I’m interested in your thoughts and willing to learn from a view different from mine. I hope that you will enjoy reading this blog and that it may enhance the mutual understanding of our worldviews.
